The newly created Medical and Anti-Doping Committee of the Armwrestling Federation of Africa (AFA) is to set up National Medical and Anti-Doping Commissions in all member federations of AFA.
According to the Chairman of the Committee, Dr Bojuwoye Adebukola, this will help them to reach out to the member federations and educate officials and athletes on the various issues on anti-doping.
He said his committee will engage the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) to the anti-doping codes to all member federations and also intensify the education of administrators, coaches and athletes.
In his long term policies for AFA, the chairman mentioned that his committee will work to acquire a WAF and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) approved laboratory that AFA can use for the testing of athletes at the national and regional level.
He added that they will also start testing and increase the number of tests in Africa while aiming at attaining a clean sport and drug free sport and train Doping Control Officers from member federations.
Dr Adebukola called on the Executive Board of AFA to cooperate with them so that they can achieve their targets.
