Presidents of member associations and stakeholders of Armwrestling Federation of Africa (AFA), will converge on zoom this Sunday, May 31, 2020 to discuss the effect of the global pandemic, covid-19, on the sport in Africa.
The novel coronavirus has halted almost all sporting activities making the industry players find alternative ways and means to getting the game back.
In view of this, the President of AFA and his Executives will on Sunday, hold a stakeholders meeting to discuss how to deal with the effects of coronavirus on armwrestling.
On the agenda will be an address by the AFA President and Secretary General, then a general overview of the pandemic from each member country followed by a technical presentation by the technical director of AFA.
The 11th edition of the Africa Armwrestling Championship which was scheduled to take place in Ghana in July but postponed due to covid-19 will also be on the table for discussion.
The meeting will be closed with the launch of AFA’s website www.africaarmwrestling.com by Mr. Charles Osei Asibey, the Deputy Secretary General of the Armwrestling Federation of Africa (AFA).
Countries expected to participate in the meeting are; Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Cote D’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Guinea Conakry, Lybia, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Seychelles, Togo and Uganda.
President of the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) and WAF Secretary General will also be in attendance.
